Khand is Dead...

Yep. Reason is that I don't feel linked anymore to that name and those topics. I mean, the passion for Tolkien and this kind of stuff is for sure an important part of my past but not of my present, not to mention my future! Also, my last promo cd-r did'nt any kind of interest by any of the record labels I sent it to, but that's fine as probably the time for this kind of stuff is finished, and now it's time to make something a little bit more personal and original. So that's not the end of my "activity" in the metal scene ( yeah sounds awkward but you know what I mean! ) and all the material i've collected in these last months won't be wasted. You'll soon have some news about me but this time I'll let the music speak first as since I opened this blog nothing really interesting came out of my computer musically speaking, just words..

New Zealand & Australia Breaktime

I'm currently in New Zealand. At the beginning of june I will move to Australia to stay there 1 month. 9 of july will be the day of my comeback in Italy. I'm still working on some new stuff but as I am here everything proceeds slower of course! Prepare for a massive update of the blog BTW...

Aer - Vast and Empty Beyond Thought

Ho deciso di rompere gli indugi e rendere disponibile un EP a nome Aer che ho composto durante l'estate scorsa.
Si tratta di un solo lunghissimo pezzo ( più di 27 minuti!! ) che teoricamente avrebbe dovuto far parte di un progetto più ampio, un concept album sullo spegnimento del sole che non so quando e soprattutto se vedrà mai la luce.
L'ossatura del brano è stata fatta con uno dei migliori VST gratuiti in circolazione ( almeno tra quelli che ho provato io ), mi riferisco a Chimera. Se vi interessa suonare drone, dark ambient o roba simile vi consiglio di provarlo ( occhio che non è proprio CPU-friendly, per così dire.. ).
Ah, dimenticavo, il link per scaricare l'EP è in fondo al post!

I decided to stop the delay and make available an EP I composed as Aer during last summer.
It's just a long track ( more than 27 minutes!! ) which theoretically should have been part of a wider project, a concept album on the darkening of the sun which I don't know when and most importantly if will ever see the light.
The track's framework has been made with one of the best freeware VSTs around ( or at least among the ones i've tried ), I'm talking about Chimera. If you're into drone, dark ambient or whatever similar I suggest you to give it a try ( note that it is not really CPU-friendly, I might say ).

Girando per la rete ho trovato questo fantastico documento: una guida al missaggio, scritta da tale Nick Thomas, che spiega in maniera piuttosto chiara e semplice un'arte che é ben lontana dall'essere chiara e semplice, con mille trucchi del mestiere indirizzati soprattutto a chi fa musica elettronica. Voglio condividerla con chiunque capiti su questo blog e sia anche solo lontanamente interessato all'argomento ( il link lo trovate in fondo al post ).

Mentre fervono le attività di registrazione di 8 nuovi brani a nome Khand, di cui ancora non voglio rivelare nulla ma che probabilmente saranno gli ultimi con questo nome, mi preme invece spendere due parole sugli Sleeping Village, progetto dell'amico M., il cui lungamente atteso ( dal sottoscritto ) nuovo MCD "Fragments" esce oggi sotto l'egida dell'austriaca Ashen Productions.
Praticamente l'unica band di black metal latu sensu che avrà sempre il mio supporto a prescindere.
Ecco come viene descritto il disco da parte dell'etichetta:

This italian duo delivers three slow and droning dirges in the vein of MY BLOODY VALENTINE, old TYPE O NEGATIVE, SONIC YOUTH and BURZUM with an atmosphere that is far removed from what could be called Black Metal, but still distant, monolithic and otherworldly. 'Fragments' also includes one long ambient/noise track that furthermore enhances the bizarre aura of this unusual release.
